For a complete list of compatible devices, visit the Wireless Power Consortium website.
Important note: Not all devices can be placed on the wireless charger due to design constraints. Check your device's operation manual to confirm compatibility. Depending on your device, charging may occasionally suspend and restart automatically. This is normal behavior, not a malfunction.
Safety Precautions
To Prevent Damage to the USB Type-C Charging Ports
- Do not insert foreign objects into the ports.
- Do not spill water or other liquids into the ports.
- When the USB Type-C charging ports are not in use, close the lids. If a foreign object or liquid gets into a port, it could cause a short circuit.
- Do not apply excessive force to or impact the USB Type-C charging ports.
- Do not disassemble or modify the USB Type-C charging ports.
To Prevent Damage to External Devices
- Don't leave devices in the vehicle unattended. Heat buildup inside a parked vehicle can seriously damage phones and batteries, especially on hot days.
- Do not push down on or apply unnecessary force to an external device or the cable of an external device while it is connected.
To Prevent 12-Volt Battery Discharge
Don't use the USB Type-C charging ports for extended periods when the hybrid system is off. You'll drain the 12-volt battery.

Charge Area Dimensions:
- Width: Approximately 3.9 inches (10 cm)
- Depth: Approximately 1.0 inch (2.5 cm)
Charging Coil Positioning:
The charging coil inside the wireless charger can move within the charge area to align with the charging coil in your portable device. Charging is possible when the center of your device's charging coil is placed within the charge area.
Important Limitation:
If 2 or more portable devices are placed on the wireless charger, their charging coils may not be properly detected and they may not charge. Place only one device at a time.
How to Use the Wireless Charger
Placement and Activation
- Position your portable device on the wireless charger.
- Place the charging side of the portable device down with the center of the device in the center of the charge area.
- When charging starts, the operation indicator light (orange) on the wireless charger comes on.
If charging doesn't start: Refer to the troubleshooting section below. The light indicator will tell you what's happening.
Charging Completion
When your device is fully charged, the operation indicator light changes to green.
Note on some devices: Depending on your portable device, the operation indicator light may continue showing orange even after charging is complete. This is normal behavior.
Device Movement During Charging
The wireless charger automatically adapts as your device moves:
- Slight movement: If you move your device slightly within the charge area, the charging coil inside the wireless charger will automatically move to realign with your device's charging coil, and charging restarts.
- Significant movement: If you move your device significantly in the charge area, charging stops momentarily. The system will resume charging if the center of your device's charging coil remains within the charge area.
- Outside the area: If your device is moved outside the charge area entirely, charging stops. Always place your device near the center of the charge area for reliable charging.
Advanced Features: Rapid Charging
Your 2024+ Land Cruiser's wireless charger supports rapid charging for compatible devices. The following devices automatically activate rapid charging when placed on the charger:
- iPhone devices: Any iPhone 8 or later model with an iOS version that supports 7.5W charging
- Samsung Galaxy devices: Devices compatible with Galaxy's original rapid charging standard
- Other devices: Portable devices compliant with WPC Ver1.3.2 and compatible with rapid charging
When you place a compatible device on the charger, rapid charging automatically activates without any button presses or settings adjustments.
Understanding the Operation Indicator Light
The wireless charger communicates its status through the operation indicator light on the charging tray. Understanding these light states helps you know if charging is working properly.
Normal Operating States:
| Charger Tray Light | Multimedia Display Light | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Off (disappears) | Off | Power for Multimedia is off OR power switch is off |
| Green (solid) | Gray | Standby Mode - Charger is ready. Charging can begin when a device is placed. |
| Green (solid) | Gray | Charging Complete - Your device is fully charged |
| Orange (solid) | Blue | Actively Charging - Your device is currently charging |
Note: Depending on your portable device, the orange light may remain on even after charging is complete. This is normal behavior for some devices.
Technical Detail (Standby Mode):
During standby, charging power is not output from the charger. A metallic object placed on the wireless charger in this state will not be heated.
Troubleshooting: When the Wireless Charger Does Not Operate Properly

Community Tips for Best Results
OEM Charger Coil Alignment is Automatic with Mechanical Feedback
The factory wireless charger features a motor-driven charging coil that automatically aligns with your phone's coil. You may hear a small mechanical whirring sound and feel a subtle vibration when the system realigns. This is normal behavior. The charger will move to find your phone's charging coil even if you shift your device slightly.
Phone Case Thickness Matters for Charging Efficiency
For best charging, use thinner phone cases (under 3-5mm). Community testing confirms that thicker protective cases can significantly reduce charging speed or prevent proper coil alignment, even on compatible devices. If a device won't charge, try removing the case to test.
Center Placement for Reliable Charging
While the charger can realign, placing your phone at the extreme edges of the charge area may cause the coil to disengage and charging to stop. Always center your phone in the charging tray for reliable operation. Charging will pause until you reposition the device toward the center.
Avoid Metal Objects Near the Charging Area
The manual warns about this, and community experience confirms metal objects can interfere with coil detection. Items to avoid: phones with metal cases, metal rings/stands, coins, keys. Metal can interfere with the magnetic field, preventing charging or causing the charger to disable as a safety measure.
Use Protective Silicone Pads to Prevent Sliding
Community members report success using high-quality silicone protective mats under their phones to prevent sliding in the charging tray and provide additional protection. These non-slip pads are available as aftermarket accessories and significantly improve the user experience, especially during vehicle movement.
Charging Suspension is Normal
The manual notes that depending on your connected device, charging may occasionally suspend and restart. This is normal behavior and not a sign of malfunction. Common reasons include:
- Device overheating protection (most phones pause charging when hot)
- Battery management algorithm (phone might pause when nearly full)
- Temporary coil misalignment during device movement
Understanding Charging Speed
The OEM wireless charger is rated at 15W maximum output, but actual iPhone charging is limited to 7.5W (per Apple's rapid charging specification). This is not a malfunction. It's intentional design. The factory charger functions as a maintenance charger rather than a fast charger. It's perfect for overnight charging or topping up while parked, but don't expect rapid 30-minute fill-ups.
If you prefer faster charging speeds, aftermarket options are available. The J250 community has identified compatible 15W fast chargers from various manufacturers on Amazon and Walmart. Always verify J250/LC250 compatibility before purchasing.
Important Note on 1958 Trim: The 1958 heritage trim (with classic round headlights) does not come equipped with the wireless charger. Aftermarket attempts to retrofit wireless charging to 1958 trims have had mixed results and fitment challenges.
