What's up fellow/future LC250 owners. You're all hopefully aware that these platforms have smaller gas tanks than previous generations. 18 Gallons on the LC250 is sooo small. If you keep it stock and get 20-24mpgs than maybe it's okay. But after you modify it, your range shrinks even more. I average 15mpgs on a lift and 35" tires. Roughly 250 miles on range vs 350-400 you MIGHT get stock if you're lucky.
I want to drive my Land Cruiser to Alaska eventually. Which I did last summer in my 5G 4R. Which averaged the similar range/mpg and I ran it to empty on one section of the Cassiar Highway praying I wouldn't get stranded as I coasted down a hill in neutral and there happened to be an ope gas station. Obviously most people don't drive stretches of road like this often where gas is sparse. But filling up often in general is a pain.
I've started looking at alternative solutions to add range in situations like this. The cheapest being rotopax or fuel cans. And the most expensive being an auxiliary tank. I have yet to find a company that makes a tank for the 250. But I did come across Long Range America's website. Who makes a lot of auxiliary tanks for other vehicles Toyota, Lexus, Ford, and more....

They have a banner on their site to signup for an email when they release an Aux Fuel Tank for the 250s. I'll link it HERE in case anyone else is interested in this. I hope I can get my hands on one as soon as they're available. And I'm curious if they're running into issues with this being a hybrid only vehicle and the battery above the typical fuel tank. The normal way to install these is where the spare tire is usually located.

It looks like they are contemplating 2 options and asking for input on which would be preferred. 16 Gallon & 24 Gallon tanks. Both would be a huge improvement to fuel range.
It seems like these typically run in the $2,000+ range for the tanks not including install. Which most would argue is not worth it. But for some people (like myself) who do need it, or would like the peace of mind. And can budget the extra money into their build. I think this is fantastic. And a must have.
Anyone else interested in an Auxiliary Fuel Tank for their 250?
