Well I had the chance to use my engine skid plate for the LC250 from RCI. I love this skid plate. I went with aluminum to save weight. And recently smacked it hard on the ground jumping it. Was going over some of the whoops on the main road outside Sand Hollow and didn't see there was a decent rise/rock in the ground sticking up. Hit it pretty hard at probably 40mph. When I pulled off and looked the skid plate has a small dent but held up really well all things considered. I did decide to order a new Steel skid anyways. One tough thing about Long Travel is it's usually lower due to the wide stance. (I'm also still adjusting spring rates/pre-load amounts to figure out a good balance).

If you plan to rock crawl or jump your truck I'd say go with Steel. If you want moderate protection and occasionally wheel harder you're probably good to go with Aluminum. I'm excited to try Steel out. I'll keep the Aluminum in case I ever want to switch back. Maybe I'll even try to hammer the dent out when I take it off.
